Spirit of Dance

by admin on Feb.16, 2010, under Uncategorized

One of the best the jobs I ever had was as a dance teacher. I taught from age 3 to high school students. Part of the job was to teach dance at Day Care centers. It cut over head cost, and was fun to do. I brought the music; the center provided the space. The children learned a little Ballet, a little Jazz, and a great deal of modern dance, with creative movement thrown in. Watching a 3 year old catch the music and run with it was amazing to see. An older student having learned a new difficult step dance with joy was a great reward. I also held recitals every year as well. Those were fun, but a lot of work. There was the music, chorography, costumes, programs, and many small details to deal with. The sense of accomplishment the children had was amazing. I can no longer teach dance do to health problems. Though, I will always remember it as one of the best times of my life.
