The Unforgettable Singapore Experience

Once in my lifetime, I was given a chance to work in Singapore. It is one of the most developed countries in the world. I have seen its environment and I knew how was working there. It was hard working there at first but I managed it later until I finished the job for six months. I was assigned at the biggest and famous international bookstore located in Singapore. The name of the bookstore is BORDERS PTE LTD. It has two branches particularly located at Wheelock Place, Orchard Road and Parkway Parade. I worked at Parkway Parade. Five days of work was given to me per week. There were lots of things I did. Since it’s a bookstore, I shrink wrapped different kinds of books especially the big ones and the ones that contained small particles such as toys for kids. I also arranged books on the shelves. I made sure that it’s neat and clean and is arranged alphabetically according to the author. Another nice thing I did was serving all different kinds of customers. I helped them find a certain book that they wanted by searching it first on the computer and then searching it on the shelf. I rendered all important information to customers at the Information Counter. We had a storytelling session every Tuesday and I was one of the storytellers. So, I found it great to serve the little ones by telling them nice stories. Lastly, I helped customers during purchasing time by accepting their cash at the Cash Register. I had two off days and it helped me do other things like reading, spending time with friends, shopping or visiting some tourist spots in Singapore. I served at Borders Bookstore for about six months and I learned a lot of things. My work experience there is truly a treasure for me.
Ten Days on Gull Lake
by admin on Oct.29, 2011, under Uncategorized
My Cousin invited me on a vacation in Northern Minnesota’s Gull Lake in a one hundred year old resort nestled in the trees. We attended a cocktail party in the bar after we unpacked, and then to the main restaurant for the most fantastic buffet I have ever seen. There was a world class golf course on the resort as well as a spa. A breakfast buffet contained everything imaginable. The evening meal could be eaten in one of three restaurants on the resort. There were paths to walk on in the evening and both a beach area and indoor swimming pool. The resort had a complete exercise room. A bar on the beach had a wonderful atmosphere. My favorite place was the old fashioned brick walkway from the main building to the lake. It was lined with begonias in every color, and old fashioned lamp lights and benches.
Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling – Great Books!

I would have to say that my favorite author is J.K. Rowling. I don’t know that I could choose a favorite book of hers from the Harry Potter series – they are all wonderful and so much fun to read! The beauty of her writing in these books is that they transport readers into an entirely new world. We get to learn new words and phrases, learn about new sports, spells, etc., and are transported into this great, fun place to be. While everything isn’t rosy and happy all the time in this new world, it’s still the kind of world that many of us would love to be a part of. Who wouldn’t love to fly on a broomstick or have a cape to make themselves invisible? The books are incredibly well written and well thought out, and the results of all of that are that the books are a joy to read. I have never regretted picking up the first Harry Potter book – they are good books, and they are especially wonderful when I’m having a bad day and want to “get away” for awhile – you can be transported just by opening one of the books!

One of my favorite movies of all time is Dirty Dancing. While the movie is set in a time period before I was born, it’s a movie that people of all ages can relate to and enjoy. The movie is entertaining, well done, and has something for everyone. The dancing is a lot of fun to watch, and I really enjoy the music in the movie as well. The story is a great one, and it’s a fun look on the golf club style of life that many people wouldn’t even think about. It’s an interesting contrast, between the rich families and the less well to do staff. I love the relationship between Baby and Johnny, how it develops and changes throughout the movie. There are some fun and interesting sub-plots, and the dancing scene at the end of the movie is one of my favorite scenes from a movie ever!
Where Does Time Go

Today I got up at 7:30, made the bed, cleaned the bathroom, straightened up the other room and went downstairs. I made coffee, threw a load of dark clothes in the washer and separated the other clothes into white, towels and colors. While I was in the basement I sweep down the steps and the floor, change the litter box and cleaned the downstairs bathroom. When I went to the second floor the coffee was ready and I sat down and ate breakfast. After breakfast I took out the trash, loaded the dishwasher and cleaned corn on the cob for supper. I started to get lunch ready for my husband who comes home every day. When that was done I got dressed and took the cat to get his nails cut, came home dropped him off and then went to two banks, craft store and the grocery store. Came home unloaded the groceries, went and talked to a neighbor who I haven’s seen in a year. Then I cleaned some weeds in the yard, came in the house, started the potatoes for supper, and now I’m on the computer at its 2 o’clock. Then at 5 I will go to Aquacize for 1 hr. Home eat dinner at 7:30 watch television till 10:30 and go to bed.

Cody’s Amazing Day
by admin on Oct.27, 2011, under Uncategorized
When I first wake up in the morning I am next to the man of my dreams. This is an excellent way to start off any day. As any individual does, I have to shower, dress, eat and run off to work. I currently work in a research lab outside of Fort Collins, CO. I am currently researching different kinds of bacteria and their effects on pollen. This is a fascinating job and I absolutely love it. I have lunch with my co-workers and we all get along great. After work I head off to the gym, where I workout with my beast friend for about an hour. I return home around dinner time and my husband has already setup the table for us. We typically watch about two hours of television before heading off to bed, preparing for the next day. I absolutely love my life and wouldn’t change anything about it, no matter what.
A Clean Atlantic City Weekend

People think that Atlantic City, NJ is just another gambling town where all you do is gamble, party, and get drunk. Well, this past weekend, I stayed there for three nights in a hotel near the boardwalk and I was determined to not lose all my money. My husband and I came with two other couples and shared a 2 bedroom suite. We hung out with one couple a lot more because they didn’t want to lose most of their money either. We used the tourist information center to our full advantage. We walked up and down the boardwalk, walked to Caesar’s Outlet shopping center, walked back to the hotel, hung out at the hot tub/pool, and the beach. We drove over to the Atlantic City Aquarium and fed stingrays and sharks and looked at crazy looking aquatic creatures. We did gamble one night and we lost some money, but we realized that we didn’t like the feeling of losing our money so easily in such a short amount of time without anything to show for it. Also, the emotional highs and lows of gambling were overwhelming, and we could see how people can get addicted so easily. On our last night, we watched our friend, an amateur mixed martial arts fighter, fight at the Resorts Theater and had a few drinks at our hotel. All in all, a good weekend with great friends and most of our money.
Seinfeld

My favorite television show, hands down, is Seinfeld. I love the comedic humor involved in this television show. I think that the culmination of Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis Dreyfus and Michael Roberts has put together a fantastic sitcom that is not only funny, but is true to life in a humorous sort of way. Each actor and actress brings their own creative talent to this show to make it unique. There are so many episodes that I love including The Soup Nazi, The Engagement, The Cadillac, The Gum…and the list goes on. Jerry Seinfeld has done a fantastic work in putting this show and the actors together to make this show what it is. All people, young and old, can appreciate the humor in this show and all of the scenarios that each sitcom brings to the table. It is by far my favorite show of all time.
