My eleven children are truly the joy of life. We are a mixed bunch; the oldest is 50, the youngest 27. With seven boys and four girls under one roof, there has never been a lack of excitement. The kids have spread out as adults but also maintain a very close bond thru the good and bad times of each others lives. Only the two youngest are mine by blood, the next seven are my step-children, and the oldest two are my husband’s step-children. We are also a Hispanic-Caucasian blend, and the oldest is only three years younger than I am. This has provided many interesting stories over the last 31 years. Standing in line at a department store is especially fun for us. We begin by just making small talk with one another and customers around us. When the line moves forward, I pretend not to notice. Then my son speaks up and says “Hey Mom, you can move forward now”. We certainly do get a lot of looks and some very good laughs.
