Protect Your Remaining Teeth or Save Them In The Fist Place

by on Jan.26, 2010, under Main Articles

Tooth loss, among other things, can be quite a devastating or a demoralizing experience. The most common factor or cause of tooth loss would be periodontal disease commonly referred to as ‘gum disease’. This is associated with advanced stages of gum deterioration. When the gums are afflicted with bacteria that secrete toxins onto and around the periodontal tissue. This is literally, the tissue that surrounds the tooth.

Obviously, we have all been cautioned to remain vigilant with our oral health care routines. But with our current realities especially as it relates to food and disease, it may take more than regular flossing and brushing to prevent and cure periodontal disease.

In line with this, there are some measures that one can take in order to prevent or stop the progression of gum disease.  Consider an oxygenated, pH mouthwash such as the Therabreath brand.  Make sure that you also have enough intake of Vitamin C, bioflavonoids, folic acid, calcium and niacin to combat pyorrhoea.

Another possibility is an essential oil blend that can help to kill harmful bacteria.  Oramd is one brand.  However, be forwarned, this can help, but you should also know that the daily disruption of plaque is necessary to help mitigate these problems.  An oral irrigator, like the hydrofloss may be helpful in this regard.

Periodontal disease is a condition wherein the bone structure that supports the teeth starts to erode as a result of the destructive waste products of anaerobic bacteria that accumulate under plaque.  Excessive alcohol and smoking can exacerbates already existing periodontal disease or facilitate the development of the disease. Vitamin B2 or riboflavin might help relieve mouth dryness. Mouth dryness can help the rapid proliferation and growth of bacteria.

A Dinner to Remember

by on Jan.24, 2010, under Uncategorized

Well who says its mum’s job to cook dinner? As the weekend approached I stumbled on a fantastic idea. I decided to invite a friend each of my two kid’s friends to spend the night and to get them all involved in making dinner. I had made pizza dough and kept it ready. Also kept some herbs, olives, tomatoes, mushrooms, shredded chicken, corn and shredded cheese ready. The moment I told them what they had to do they were all excited. We had lots of fun each one putting what they liked and finally with corn they marked their pizza. I finally put it in the oven to bake. After that I stood aside and asked them what goes into a salad. Out came the ideas and one by one we put the ingredients together. By then our pizzas got ready, we finished making the salad and laying the table. Once the pizzas were on the table each one looked for their one and relished it with some salad. With dinner done they helped wash up and finally got into their pajamas to watch a movie before going to bed.

A Week in My Life

The past week has been excellent. At work, several ongoing, long-term projects are finally wrapping up. Since I leave work in a couple weeks to return to school, it is good to know that I will not leave a great deal of unfinished business behind me. And my supervisors are happy with my work, which is always positive. Better yet, I got Friday off. It was my brother’s birthday, so I drove up to visit him, and, atypically, I did not get caught in horrific traffic. He and I and his girlfriend hung out all weekend, watching awful movies (The Running Man, some Steve Guttenberg / Crystal Bernard romantic comedies), and eating delicious food. On Friday, we went to Longhorn Steakhouse. Saturday, we went to Pei Wei and cooked seafood Alfredo. I got my brother a Wii game (Cooking Mama) and an Xbox peripheral, and my parents got him some clothes, and he seemed pleased. So that was a fun weekend.

Bulk REO Investor Tips

by on Jan.19, 2010, under Main Articles

The recession in the U.S. economy has resulted in more foreclosures than experienced by any other generation of Americans. Yet as always, this challenge has given rise to a huge new opportunity for alert real estate investors.

The real estate investing strategy du jour is called ‘Bulk REO Investing‘ and is a real monster.

Foreclosures are at the heart of the Bulk REO business, so let’s consider the foreclosure process.

To understand investing in Bulk REO, you have to understand the foreclosure process.

As a borrower becomes increasingly behind in his mortgage, the lender regularly calls and writes the borrower with default warnings and threats. The lender directs the subsequent timing of the actual foreclosure proceedings. The ‘pre-foreclosure’ time starts with filing of foreclosure paperwork and concludes at public auction.

The defaulted property is ultimately auctioned, thus completing the foreclosure process. If there are no buyers at the foreclosure auction, the lender regains title to the property. Such a property is then classified as an ‘REO’ (Real Estate Owned) by the lender.

Local real estate agents are usually used to resale REO properties at retail price to the general public. But as a consequence of the weak economy, lenders are frequently selling their REO properties far below their actual value. However, the purchase of a ‘package’ (or group) or REO properties is the trade-off for receiving such great prices.

There is huge profit potential in these REO packages for qualified real estate investors. The most successful Bulk REO Investors will have a well-respected source of funding for their transactions. There are many sources of funding for these transasactions including: hard money and commercial financing, as well as non conventional sources such as hedge funds and private investors. Additionally, one man is becoming very well known in the field of bulk REO investing, and his name is Sal Bushemi of Dandrew Capital Partners, a hedge fund in New York.

Speechless

by on Jan.15, 2010, under Uncategorized

One day, I was driving down the road in South Florida with my five year old daughter Alexandra. It was an election year, and we passed a group of protesters with a sign outside a clinic. The sign was protesting abortion, and my precocious five year old had just learned how to read. I thought nothing of it as we passed, thinking she would not notice the signs. From the back seat I heard, “Mommy can I ask you a question?” I replied, “Sure”, not knowing that this would be only one of two times I have been speechless in my life. She then asked “Mommy, what is abortion?” Even though she is extremely bright, I thought this was above and beyond her comprehension, but I struggled with how to tell her that. For what seemed to be forever, I thought I had a pretty good answer. I said “Sweetie, I really don’t think you are old enough for me to explain that to you in a way you would understand”. She was silent for about two minutes, so I thought I had narrowly escaped an uncomfortable discussion. Alex, ever the precocious child, piped up from the back, “Would you rather I be ignorant then?” Let this be a lesson to all of you parents; never underestimate your child’s power to surprise!

Searching for an Apartment to Let in Barnsley, UK: How to Look Over a Property – Part 3

by on Jan.14, 2010, under Main Articles

There’s quite a bit to consider when it comes to locating the best apartment to let in Barnsley within the UK. You should make an educated decision concerning the purchase—even if you’re renting instead of making a purchase. Let’s explore some suggestions on how to carefully check the property.

Apartment To Let In Barnsley -Outdoor Security

Just a good look at the outside door facing can reveal quite a bit about the property. Assuming the frame looks very new or fixed lately, it may means the building has had a recent burglary. All entrances and exits should be fitted with good quality locks. A door with quite a few locks on it may mean someone has broken through it before as well. The windows ought to be able to be closed, well-glazed, and secured—on the ground floor more than anywhere else. A poor window often leaks out air or heat. There should be plenty of light around the building. You should feel welcome to take any concerns about how well-protected an apartment is to your Barnsley letting agent.

Gas Service

Apartment To Let In Barnsley -The gas must be inspected once a year in all flats to let in Barnsley. Properties that pass the inspection are issued a Gas Safety Certificate, which must be made available to tenants. All apartments with gas heating systems have to be aware of the potential risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Having a CO2 detector is a definite plus, even though the law doesn’t presently require them. Check all gas appliances to be sure the flames burn blue and not orange or yellow.

Electrical Safety

First, determine what shape the wires are in. Worn-out looking electrical wires are an indication of a building which could catch fire. Also determine if you have enough wall outlets. If something is plugged into any outlets, walk over and feel the plug. If it feels warm, this may be a bad thing. Flip all light switches to ensure they work. If any equipment comes with the property to let in Barnsley, check them. The fridge should be adequately cooled and the stove eyes should work.

Apartment To Let In Barnsley -If you stay with these rules for buying an apartment to let in Barnsley, you can feel protected in your new home.

My job as a School Bus Driver

by on Jan.12, 2010, under Uncategorized

I start my day by getting up at 5:30am. I head over to our school transportation lot to start my bus and do the morning pre-trip bus check. This includes checking all gauges, the tires, lights, turn signals, and mirrors. After this is done, I leave the lot to head to my first student pick-up spot. I usually pick up 5-10 students per stop. After all students are picked up and all stops are made, I head to the school to unload the students. I first go to the middle school and high school to drop off the older students, and then I go to the elementary school to drop off the younger students. When this is done, I drive the bus back to the school transportation lot to park my bus. Before I leave my bus I always walk to the back of the bus to check for students that may have been left on the bus. Then I go home until it is time to come back and do it all again for the afternoon route to take the students home. This is the best job that I have ever had. I love working with children.
